Shearsby Conservation Area Appraisal

Shearsby Parish Council & Harborough District Council have arranged a drop in event for the Conservation Area Appraisal this will take place on Thursday 5 August 4.30pm to 6.30pm at The Village Hall.

There are two consultations which may be of interest to you:

  • Shearsby Conservation Area Appraisal
  • Local List of Non-Designated Heritage Assets

The consultations are open from Thursday 8 July 2021 until 5pm on Sunday 5 September 2021.

The consultation draft Conservation Area Appraisal for Shearsby defines and records the facts that give Shearsby conservation area its special interest and justify its designation. This will help improve understanding of the historic importance of the area, how this has shaped its unique character and how it can guide its future development. The appraisal will help inform the consideration of relevant planning applications, conservation area and listed building consents as appropriate.

The consultation draft Local List of Non-Designated Heritage Assets outlines the nomination and selection process for assets and includes an initial list of 16 entries. Local heritage lists play an essential role in building and reinforcing a sense of local character and distinctiveness in the historic environment, as part of the wider range of designation. They enable the significance of any building or site on the list to be better taken into account in planning applications affecting the building or site or its setting. A local heritage list can thus support the Local Plan and inform a proactive strategy for the historic environment.
