Pre-Christmas socially distanced weekend
A pre-Christmas socially distanced weekend of events took place to raise funds for the Community Association and to allow Father Christmas to make his annual visit. On Saturday there was a raffle, a tombola, a sing out from the village green from Laura and Hervé, a cake stall, a bric-á-brac stall and of course a breakfast bap takeaway stall. This all took place on a day when the rain only let up to allow the sleet a chance...but were we downhearted? Not at all - The summer gazebos were deployed, umbrellas were unfurled, wellies were worn and those wonderful volunteers and participants just got on with it and raised over £1000. Sunday brought more damp drizzle but undeterred Santa arrived and was ensconced in his purpose built garage / grotto from where he was able to distribute his gifts to the children on a one to one socially distanced basis - tricky, but with the aid of his helpers the task was completed. Last but not least 19 homeowners had decorated a window at the front of their property and there was a children's competition to find the windows and decipher the clues therein.
Shearsby - you did it again, well done all!
